Well, we're ready for another season.
I've made a few changes in how points are awarded this year for the Weekly Point Guess and Survivor. I'm linking the
point awards to the highest balance to try to keep the site competitive thorughout the year.
The weekly point guess award will stay the same as in the past for the first five weeks. After that,
the award will be one-twentieth of the previous week's highest balance for the closest guess and one-fourth of the
previous week's highest balance for an exact match.
For the Survivor pool, whoever wins will either have have their balance doubled, or bumped up to match the current point
leader's balance, whichever balance is greater.
Finally, I'm adding a beginning-of-year prediction game. You have until the close of week 5 to choose who will be the
division, conference and Super Bowl winners. I'm still working out the awards for this.

Some Basic Rules
- Betting will run from the start of the regular season through the Super Bowl.
- In order to have your numbers appear in the rankings, you'll have to place a bet at least once
every other week. That way, someone who only picks one winning game on the first week of the season
doesn't appear on the top of the betting percentage list for the rest of the year.
This site is meant to provide our friends and families a place to display their
football wagering prowess without actually risking any financial loss.
Simply place your bets once a week and after that week's NFL results are in,
you can watch your winnings pile up!
Everyone who registers here will receive an initial bankroll of 1000 credits.
In case you blow the whole wad in a single weekend, everyone will also receive
an additional 100 credits after the previous week's accounts are settled, enabling
you to continue playing throughout the season.
In addition to team betting, users can also win points by guessing the number of total points
that will be scored by all games played in a given game-week. The one who's closest will win a
5000 point bonus. If you get it exact, you get a 25000 point bonus.
The person with the most credits at the end of the season will be crowned the Betting Champion.
Be forewarned: All win/loss information will be made available to all players.
While the actual wagering process is password-protected, statistics on your betting and performance
are openly visible to any player who wants to see them. (View Others' Info)
To help liven up the action, we've created a "Trash Talk" area...feel free to trade
betting tips, boast about your winnings and deliver (mild) barbs to those unfortunate
souls who weren't as lucky as you were last week. (I will monitor this area to ensure that
all messages are in "good taste" but, if anyone of you know me, you'll know that my definition
of "good taste" is probably more liberal than most others'.)
